We offer nationally-accepted MiDAS and PATS training for minibus drivers and passenger assistants.
Driver training
Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)
Wandsworth Community Transport is a member of MiDAS (minibus drivers awareness scheme) which is the accepted standard across the whole country. This high standard of training is required of all our drivers and escorts, and is also offered to outside agencies such as schools and other minibus operating groups from the whole region. For more information about all your training needs phone Jimmy Weekly on 020 8675 3812.
PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme)
PATS is similar to MiDAS but for passenger assistants. It focuses more on the passenger and issues like manual handling, wheelchairs, disability awareness, data protection, safeguarding, dealing with challenging behaviour and much more. It is a must for passenger assistants and drivers alike who deal with vulnerable passengers. Again phone Jimmy on 020 8675 3812 for details.
Training is normally carried out at our base in Balham, but we can also come to you if there are several candidates.
Drivers who drive as part of their job (teachers, youth workers etc.) and who took their test after 1996 need to do Minibus PCV test to obtain D1 entitlement. See the section entitled D1 Training to find out more.
D1 driver training
Due to the lack of availability of D1 test dates, we have suspended this training for the time being. We hope to resume as soon as the situation improves.
D1 Minibus Training is available for drivers who need to drive minibuses as part of their jobs, but who took their test after 1996. This means they weren’t automatically given D1 entitlement (like the old timers) and they need to do a Department of Transport Minibus Test. This particularly applies to School Teachers, Youth Workers and others who need to drive a minibus at work.
We offer a comprehensive training package to get you through your D1, including provisional licence application, medical, theory test, on the road training and test.
